Our Journey

Founded by Rathna Wimal Aluthge, Rathna Batik began with a simple yet meaningful vision: to protect and promote Sri Lanka’s traditional batik craftsmanship while creating sustainable employment opportunities within local communities.

Starting with limited resources and operating on a small scale, the early years were filled with challenges—from sourcing quality fabrics and dyes to building a loyal customer base. However, through dedication, consistency, and an uncompromising commitment to quality, Rathna Batik steadily earned recognition for its authentic handcrafted creations.

Participation in local exhibitions, craft fairs, and cultural events helped introduce our work to a wider audience. The appreciation and trust of our customers inspired us to continuously improve our designs, strengthen our craftsmanship, and expand our product range.
